A graduate of Howard University’s prestigious jazz program, Abernathy has served as musical director for touring acts Black Milk and Slum Village, and collaborated with Grammy-nominated artists like Jack White, The Foreign Exchange, and Eric Roberson. His powerhouse performances—marked by gospel-rooted vocals, tight arrangements, and funk-driven energy—have drawn comparisons to D’Angelo’s Voodoo tour and reflect deep influences from Prince and James Brown.
Abernathy’s solo career took off with his critically acclaimed 2016 album Monologue, followed by Dialogue and Epilogue, forming a deeply personal trilogy that resonated with audiences worldwide. He has performed at major venues and festivals, including the Kennedy Center, Essence Festival, London’s Jazz Cafe, and sold-out shows in Tokyo, Paris, and Madrid. In 2019, Abernathy extended his artistry into community dialogue, hosting talks on love, heartbreak, and healing, creating safe spaces for emotional expression in cities like Washington D.C., London, and Madrid.
At the turn of the decade, he released Affirmations, a meditation album encouraging self-love and resilience. In 2024, he returned with From The Throne Room, a body of work that has seen multiple placements in film and television. Most recently, Abernathy ventured into authorship with the release of two books, Be Responsible For Myself and Lessons on Love. Across music, writing, and public speaking, Aaron Abernathy continues to craft meaningful, heart-centered experiences—and his journey is only beginning.
